In-ground monitoring and bait stations are installed around the perimeter of your home. Worker termites locate the bait, consume it, and share it throughout the colony — including the queen. Stations are serviced and refreshed annually to maintain continuous protection.

How do I know if I have termites or flying ants?
The easiest way to tell them apart: termites have straight antennae, equal-length wings, and a thick waist. Flying ants have elbowed antennae, unequal wings (front pair larger), and a pinched waist. If you're not sure, call us — we can confirm on-site. During swarm season, don't assume it's ants. The cost of being wrong is too high.
How long does termite treatment take?
Bait system installation is usually completed in under 2 hours. Direct wood treatment time varies depending on access and the extent of the affected area. We'll give you a clear time estimate before we start — and you don't need to leave your home for most treatments.
Is termite treatment safe for my family and pets?
Yes. The products we use are EPA-registered and applied by licensed technicians in strict accordance with label directions. We'll tell you if any room requires temporary ventilation or a brief re-entry interval. In most cases, family and pets can remain home during treatment.
What is a WDI Inspection Report?
A WDI (Wood Destroying Insect) Inspection Report is required by most lenders and title companies as part of a home sale in New York. It documents evidence of current or past termite activity, wood-boring beetle damage, and carpenter ant activity. Battle A Bug is licensed to perform and issue WDI Reports throughout Nassau and Suffolk County. Turnaround is typically 1–2 business days.
Do I need annual termite inspections?
For Long Island homeowners, yes — we strongly recommend it. Termite pressure is consistent across Nassau and Suffolk County, and early detection is the most cost-effective form of protection. An annual inspection typically takes less than an hour and gives you peace of mind for the entire year. Many of our customers have been on annual programs for over a decade.
Does homeowner's insurance cover termite damage?
In almost all cases, no. Standard homeowner's insurance policies explicitly exclude termite damage, classifying it as a preventable maintenance issue. This makes proactive treatment and annual inspections especially important — once structural damage occurs, repair costs come entirely out of pocket. We're happy to document our findings if you need records for any insurance or real estate purpose.
How soon can you come out?
For most Nassau County locations, we can schedule an inspection within 1–3 business days. Suffolk County is typically 2–5 days depending on location.
